Field Guide — Threat File

Threat Assessment

Every mission starts with the same question: who is in the way, and how fast can they be removed? This file covers the enemies and high-value targets that put the Expendables on the defensive — and how the team closes them out.

Assessment Principles

The work is simple to state and hard to execute. Identify the threat, confirm the priority, and neutralize it before it becomes a second front.

  1. Confirm the target. Names and faces are logged, not assumed; a wrong profile wastes an entire deployment.
  2. Prioritize by value. High-value targets are handled first, and handled once. No half-measures, no loose ends.
  3. Read the opposition. The rule of combat for Jean Vilain is “Kill First” — opponents who strike first stay dangerous longest.
  4. Close the distance. Once contact is made, the engagement shifts to close quarters — fast, precise, and final.
  5. Stay mobile. Terrain, weather, and enemy tactics all shift. Adapting mid-mission is part of the job, not an exception.

The figure behind the first and most important rule of combat on the field: Kill First. Any plan built around a fair fight is a plan that already failed.

Method

Close Quarters

Once a target is inside arm’s reach, distance stops being an advantage. The unholy Trinity of close quarters combat applies: know you will win, know the kill points, strike precisely.

Warning

Traps & Ambushes

Hostile ground is prepared before the team arrives. Improvised explosive devices and hidden fighting positions have ended missions that started well.
